Walk For Freedom 2022

Not even the rain could stop the determination of the Luxembourg community that rallied in the streets of Luxembourg with hope for change.

Today, 15 October 2022, Luxembourg local residents have joined thousands of people around the globe in global anti-human trafficking nonprofit A21’s 8th annual Walk for Freedom.

“I want to be part of a generation that will abolish modern-day slavery!”, said Jonas Sampaio, an 18-year old student in Luxembourg.

Walk For Freedom is an annual day of global awareness and local action in the fight against human trafficking, reaching hundreds of cities and towns right across the world with the important message: that modern-day slavery still exists, and it’s often hidden in plain sight.

The walk commenced and finished at Place de Paris where the local community heard from international human rights activits and local artists.

Human Trafficking is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. It’s the illegal trade of human beings. It’s the recruitment, control, and use of people for their bodies and for their labor.

There are 50 millions enslaved in the world today. Every year thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Human trafficking is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world, generating more than USD 150 billion every year.

Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims. The Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg is not an exception.

Together we can end modern-day slavery!
